Having a smile that you are not proud of – either because of crooked teeth, misalignment, bite issues, or gaps – can do a lot of damage to your self-confidence. While many kids get traditional braces between the ages of 9 and 14, some never have the opportunity to correct these issues. The good news is that it is never too late to get the smile you have always wanted! With Invisalign, we can help you fix those issues that hold you back from having full smile confidence.
Transform Your Smile with Invisalign Treatment
Invisalign is a customized orthodontic treatment that corrects bite and alignment issues using a series of clear aligners that are tailored specifically to your unique dental needs. Instead of traditional metal brackets, rubber bands, and pokey wires – Invisalign uses a discreet method to beautifully straighten your teeth.
How Invisalign Works
At Tooth + Tusk Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, our professional orthodontists can help you decide whether or not Invisalign is right for you or your teenager. We start with a free consultation to review your most recent x-rays and chat about your preferred outcome. It begins with a consultation to gather diagnostic information for this aesthetic treatment. If you decide to move forward with this orthodontic treatment, we will take updated x-rays and impressions to create a digital model of your teeth. With new technology, we can manipulate these images to show you exactly how your teeth will move over time and what the outcome will be once the treatment is finished.
We then send your impressions and x-rays off to the Invisalign lab where customized aligners – made from medical-grade plastic – are created uniquely for you. You will visit our dental office about every six weeks for checkups and receive your next series of aligners. You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before moving on to the next in the series.
The key to Invisalign is wearing your aligners. When you aren’t wearing them, your teeth aren’t in active treatment. If you want to complete your treatment on time and achieve the best results, wear your aligners at least 22 hours per day.
Benefits of Invisalign
There are many benefits of Invisalign, but ultimately, only you can decide if this orthodontic treatment is right for you and your dental goals. Our team will answer any questions you may have along the way. Here are just a few of the perks you will enjoy when you choose Invisalign:
- Discreet – Because they are clear aligners, Invisalign offers a way to correct major bite or alignment issues discreetly. This is the perfect option for teens who may feel self-conscious about wearing metal braces or working professionals.
- Easy Lifestyle Transition – Unlike metal braces, Invisalign does not require any dietary or lifestyle changes. Because the aligners are removable, you can simply remove the aligners to eat things that may be sticky or hard. Just be sure to brush your teeth and place the aligners back so your treatment is not interrupted. In addition, water picks, proxy brushes, floss threaders, and other special dental tools that may have been recommended with traditional braces are not necessary with Invisalign.
- Removeable – While you should not remove the aligners very often, one of the biggest benefits of Invisalign is that you can remove them when needed. Whether you need to remove the aligners when eating, during important photographs, or during speaking engagements – removing the aligners is simple and can be put back in just as quickly.
- Fast Treatment – Invisalign does not take years. In fact, many patients can start seeing improvements in their smiles within a few short months. Average treatment time for adults averages about 12 months.
