Comfort and Care
Many children experience anxiety during their dental visits – and that is okay! Our caring team understands and is experienced in providing relaxation techniques, comfort care, and safe sedation options. Here are some ways you can help prepare your anxious child for their dental visit at home:
- Walk them through the steps of their dental procedure (if necessary, our dental team can give you the process to help have a conversation with your child at home). Being positive about the appointment and explaining why dental health is important can help children understand and feel better about the visit.
- Let them ask questions. Your child will have questions – so do your best to answer them. If necessary, we are happy to sit down with them and answer any questions they have as well prior to their appointment.
- Be honest. Your child may feel some discomfort during their dental treatment, but they should never feel extreme pain. Letting them know this should alleviate some fear. In addition, you can explain to them that our office is trained to help them relax with modern techniques and sedation to keep them at ease.
- Bring comfort items. If helpful, your child may bring a stuffed animal or blanket that makes them feel relaxed or comforted and keep it with them during their appointment.
